COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT/VOLUNTEER SERVICE:
Multiple community gardens and community supported urban agriculture projects in Colorado and Washington. Veterans to Farmers in CO and Growing Veterans in WA. I Love teaching how to grow and facilitating growing food in areas where there isn’t much access to fresh, nutrient-rich vegetables. Also worked heavily with the Seattle Stand Down exclusively targeting homeless and addicted Vets. The homeless population in the PNW is growing dramatically and an estimated 250,000 Vets are currently or becoming homeless. A good amount are addicted to opiates and look to street drugs to treat their chronic pains and serve their addiction. It is an absolute nightmare and the best thing we have to combat it is ourselves.
CANNABIS IN MY LIFE:
A blessing. It has kept me away from the VA Pharmaceutical Machine. I use cannabis for two main medicinal purposes. To stoke my appetite and to even out my sleeping patterns. It works tremendously well. I have issues with dosages unfortunately, and it can be extremely limiting financially in states where they have invoked strict regulations around that (like CA, CO, WA, and OR now all have) …but I am generally well prepared. I’ve been a grower for over 10 years. Started in my first caregiver’s collective in CO, 2007. Prior to that I had been living in Richmond, VA and was admittedly a little heavy on the bottle, as I was throughout my time in the Army. Cannabis helped me redirect that ship as well. I can generally say that since I joined “The Green Revolution” in 2007 my life has steadily become healthier and more productive every year. I’ve followed the revolution through 3 states now and I can honestly say I wouldn’t put my hours towards perpetuating any other cause at this juncture. I believe it’s the most important industry developing in the global economy for a myriad of reasons.
